How to implement the inspection of Retaining rings

The solution for the 100% inspection of Retaining rings

Dimac mcv6 was born as the answer to the Dimac internal issues raised along the years about the improvement of the glass rotary table concept to process larger parts, to implement state of the art systems for surface defect detection on both the opposite faces of the piece, to improve the output rates and the productivity and to enhance the ergonomics.

The feeding system has been designed to achieve the highest output rates with any type of part and it combines the advantages of bowl feeder with a conveyor belt and a metering wheel to deposit the pieces on the glass table, each other equidistant.

The Dimac mcv6 version for retaining rings enables 100% inspection and sorting of rings up to 85mm OD and implements a high-resolution Keyence laser for precise thickness measurement combined with a HR side profile camera for flatness control with dedicated telecentric optic, collimated with telecentric backlight. The configuration is completed with a top camera for dimensional control of the ring geometry and an eddy current station with coil probe for the control of the NDT heat treatment suitable to sort the pieces by hardness classes.

The Dimac mcvx software release 2022 includes dedicated tools for the dimensional control of the most important geometrical features of a wide range of retaining rings, as illustrated in the attached pictures. These tools are very user friendly to set up and have been developed in cooperation with the most important European manufacturers of retaining rings.

The mcv6 larger 900 mm diameter rotary table accommodates more pieces and generates less centrifugal force allowing control up to 1000 pieces per minute. It hosts up to 12 inspection stations, including NDT testing equipment for Heat Treatment and material quality control.

Dimac uses only tested glass plates as their tolerance becomes more and more important the larger the diameter of the ring is. The company quality management has set his own testing equipment for the smallest deviations on any supplied glass ring, to guarantee the performances of the machine even after a glass table replacement.

Every Dimac machine must pass the internal testing procedure which includes MSA1 test with certified calibrated parts and the Electric plant testing according to DIN EN 60204-1 (IEC 204-1 : 2005) before being commissioned with the customer.

Finally, ergonomics is another key point of the new Italian machine. The access is improved with new pantograph opening doors ,the operating console is on swivelling arm, the alignment of the optics with the collimated lightening is factory pre-set by the optical system manufacturer. More room is available in lockers for tooling, samples, documentation.

The Dimac mcv6 has been conceived to sort batches of retaining rings on a 24h/7 basis unattended, it is provided as a full turnkey equipment together with its bulk feeder and packaging machine in cardboards or in nylon bags.
