SPC-360 represents a meaningful case study of the SPC-Dimac application alongside transfer machine production. The handling of pieces is entrusted to a cobot driven by the vision system to orient parts under the cameras. A combination of a linear axis, grippers, and rotating glass table permits the workpiece movement along the control stations until the OK and NOK chutes.
From 5 to more than 100 pieces for every batch to control, directly coming from the shopfloor.
Up to 55 different measures and controls for each part number, performed by 4 cameras (top, bottom, side, tilted) that capture up to 15 different pictures of the workpiece, varying lighting and piece orientation in front of the camera.
SPC-360 system works with control plan recipes prepared by the quality control department for a family of parts produced in the company. SPC-360 system interfaces with the company ERP-System to verify the correct alignment of the control plan version and enable the cycle starting.
The operator chose the part number from the scheduling list of the production machines to reduce the risk of mistakes.
After the measures, a validation process is designed to prevent corruption in the main data storage. Operators can address anomalies by choosing to accept the automatic measurement value, repeat the measurement, or correct it manually. SPC-360 tracks any modifications in the data and identifies the responsible operator. The validated acquired data is promptly transferred to the company’s ERP system, eventually with all the corresponding pictures or a selection of them.
MSA1 and MSA3 tests were performed with success, with a sigma < 0,001 mm on measures taken in backlighting and, a sigma close to 0,002 on measures taken with direct lighting.
